Hi Folks:

I wonder what comps have been like in your area. Do you feel casinos are giving the same level of comps ... a little more ... or a little less in the past 6 months ...?

To what degree will the level of comps alter your decision for a casino visit...?

I keep only getting $5 or $10 comps of freeplay. I hope they may give me at least $25 or $50, so I will go even on weekdays or weekends. Since gas prices is hiking, at least $25 or $50 freeplay will cover the expense of gas.

To me it seems comps have kind of dropped a bit and also started to favor the casino more. Instead of offering free play, one casino now offers cash comps after you earn certain base points. So they force you to play a minimal amount before you can earn their comp, where as a free play coupon could be used right from the start.

Hi Player's Life,

Last month I played at Harrah's Cherokee. I am a Total Rewards card holder for several years. I used coupons totaling over $200 that were sent to me. During the two night stay I accumulated 2600 TIER credits. I got a whole $20 coupon for this month!! Not much incentive to return this month.

I like my offers from The Sands in PA. My offers are the same whether I play a little or a lot, and whether I visit weekly or once a month. I get $50 free slot play each and every week, and some months it has been $75 per week. Weekday visits have other special offers on top of this, including $25 free slot play days and prize or giveaway days. I also get e-mails of other specials and giveaways. These downloaded slotplay offers because you can play the amount you choose on several machines, unlike the printed slot play coupons that are used on only one machine.

I have wondered if my free slot play offers might change once the hotel opens at The Sands. A comp room offer and the same dollar amount in free play would be nice.

Many of the Atlantic City casinos mail me slot play coupons, but rarely are they for more than $5, $10, or sometimes $20. They usually have restrictions as to when they can be redeemed, also. Being valid on specific days of the week or only valid after 2pm on a certain day makes me crazy! These offers don't seem to have any relation to the amount I play or the frequency of my visits.

The Borgata does have the best offers in AC. I have 2 decent free slot play offers each month, which are usually available once each half of the month, 2 free comedy show tickets, and multiple free room offers. I do think that I see better offers when I play more at the Borgata.

My offers for Las Vegas usually include free rooms, free slot play, free food, and sometimes free show tickets. My last offer to stay at the Wynn/Encore made me schedule a vacation to take advantage of the "too good to be true" offer.

The only offer I have not received is a comp flight to a casino resort. An offer like this would probably be enough to get me to book it!

I would say the comps here in (Tunica,MS), are below average. Free Buffett, $5 free slot play, first 200 ppl get a free desk light, etc...If they were better, I would definately go more often.

Hi meldeshae:

Without knowing how much you play ... it is difficult to judge. However, in general, the more competition in the area, the better the comps tend to get. Also, seems common for players who live futher from the casino to get better offers.

For example, I did not spend that much on a trip to Detroit, but I got room offers from Motor City (about 170 miles away).

I live in South Lake Tahoe, CA and the comps here are a total joke. Granted im not in the casinos everyday, but when i take my trips i usually drop at least $200.

I usually stay at MontBleu, they redid their rewards card (as of March 1, 2011) its a teir level which i dont think im going to like so much. They claim there will be better comps but its too early to tell.

I have a Total Rewards from Harrahs/Harveys. I dont usually gamble there so i dont have a whole lot of points racked up, but, from the points i do have, dont seem to amount to anything.

If anyone has info on Tahoes Total Rewards system, id love you to fill me in.

Caesar's Entertainment is going to stop the direct mailings and go strictly with e-mails. Does that mean we won't be receiving any more coupons that can be used in the machines? Are they going with the "Freeplay" concept like some of the other casinos, where you have to go to the slot club and have them place the amount into your account? Seems like they could do that automatically and place an expiration date on it that would automatically delete the amount if you don't play during the specified time frame. Then you wouldn't have to bother with having to wait in line at the slot club.

River City Casino here in St. Louis has been open for exactly one year and my comps have dramatically decreased even though my play is the same, so I hate that! The first month River City opened I was getting a coupon for $250 free play a week, the next month it was reduced to $200 a week, the following month it was reduced to $100 a week, then $75 a week, then $50 a week, then multiple months at $25 a week, and now it's down to $18 a week. I truly believe River City has figured out that I will still play thousands of dollars a month no matter what my free play is so they don't bother sending me good coupons anymore. I just received information about a new tier reward system starting in April so instead of having 3 different levels there will be 5 levels. I have a 4 star card now but as of April I will have an Elite card, which will require a minimum of 60,000 points a year (1 point for each $5 bet). The "perks" for this Elite level will be a $500 airfare credit per year, one free trip to the Wynn Vegas casino, and a free Royal Caribbean cruise to the Caribbean or the Bahamas. I have zero interest in the Vegas trip or the cruise so I wish people in charge of these promotions would just give me back better free play coupons. I would enjoy that much better!
