On a recent trip to AC i noticed that the machines are now all pretty much accepting $1 bills. I guess they were getting depearate for revenues but this was one of the most annoying things about AC so it's good they got that fixed.

Hi Smartestguy:

That's interesting. Locally, a $5 bill is the minimum a machine will accept. I thought that was pretty standard. I wonder how many bills a machine can accept in a 24-hour period before it gets full? If players started feeding 100 $1 bills into their machines, I could see the potential for an issue there. Is accepting $1 bills standard everywhere else?

My fear is that the people who take 30 minutes at the cash breaker machine breaking down the $100 bill into 5 $20's then to 10 $10s then down to 20 $5s, will now take an extra 20 minutes to break them down into 100 $1s. The money is all going into the same place, way can't take just use the $100 and get a voucher.

Sorry for the rant, but it is a pet peeve.

All I know, is if I'm down to playing single bills in a machine, it is long past the time to be in the casino. Besides, what will I use to tip the waitress with?

I know that $1 are accepted in Las Vegas and if i recall correctly, they were accepted in New Orleans. Not sure if it is standard in other markets but $5 was the norm in NJ. I believe it's to reduce cost, as pointed out, the machines can fill up faster.

I'm not one to put a $1 bill into a machine, but as far as i can remember all slots accept them in the Council Bluffs, IA casinos and haven't noticed any Vegas casinos that didn't accept them, but once again I wasn't trying to feed any in.

Delaware casino slots accept $1 bills. Never heard of a problem with the machines being full.

I save mine for tips on the casino floor so if I want to try a new slot I start off with a $5 and punch out if I really don't care for the machine.

It's a good point. At Seneca Casino in Niagara Falls, NY -- the machines allow you to select how you want to break up your $100 bills. They also let you deposit a collection of TITOS and cash out all at once. This is not the case at my local casinos. They only allow 1 TITO to be cashed at a time. They also assume to want hundreds. Then -- if you want smaller bills, you have to break the hundreds up separately. Yes ... it is a royal pain!
