I was looking for some non-gambling things to do in Vegas in April 2013 and I noticed that Cirque du Soleil Viva Elvis at Aria is closing August 31, 2012. Cirque du Soleil Zarkana moves in on November 1, 2012. I see shows for Zarkana can be booked through the end of May, but I see conflicting info on exactly which dates don't have shows.
CeeLo's Loberace opening date is now pushed back to February 2013.
Blue Man Group debuts a brand new show at Monte Carlo beginning in October 2012.
Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular ends it's run at The Venetian on September 2, 2012. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw replace Phantom on Fridays and Saturdays from December 7, 2012 until April 27, 2013 (and the famous $5 million chandelier will remain in the theater!)
Surf the Musical (songs from The Beach Boys) is now at Planet Hollywood.
Evil Dead the Musical is now at the V Theater.
Are there any "must see" shows? (I will say that Cirque du Soleil Ka, Le Reve, and Absynthe are three of the shows I would put into this category!)
What else is new or opening in Vegas between now and April 2013?
I read that "Rock of Ages" will be opening at the Venetian after Phantom leaves. I will be in Vegas in September and am looking forward to seeing the Leonardo DaVinci exhibit with life size creations of his inventions, etc. at the Venetian.
The Beach Boy show "Surf" is being closed down- I think last week since poor ticket sales. I had two tickets for September unfortunately.
Being Canadian, I've got my Shania Twain tickets for December opening weekend when I'm there for the American Country Awards and National Rodeo. She will be performing in April, 2013 also when you are there. I've already booked Vegas trip for April 6-13, 2013.
"Must see" shows for me would include "Love-the Beatles" (seen it 3 times) and "Ka", Garth Brooks (seen twice) and "The Reve" at the Wynn is a stunning, mesmerizing and jaw-dropping show also. I do like the Terry Fator show at the Mirage since it is quite humourous.

Sounds good. Lots of info! Thanks. I have seen Rock of Ages now 4 times, but I can see it again! I hope to see Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles LOVE, but I haven't been lucky getting tickets in the past. Maybe this coming year I can see it!
I grew up to the Beatles so I love their music and the show LOVE. First time I was down in second row and had to turn my head all over the place and upwards to see the action and aerials. The best seats are the cheap ones further back and including the very back section. You look down at all the action.
My first "LP" was by the Four Seasons so I also loved "The Jersey Boys" now playing at the Paris Las Vegas.
Terry Fator has a real "buzz" in town ... but I have not seen him personally. The Beatles Cirque is amazing!
For non-show stuff ... I enjoy Red Rock Canyon, the Car Collection at IP (even for non-car people).

Red Rock Canyon is nice but it is well worth the hour drive northeast of Vegas to see "Valley of Fire" which you usually see as you fly into Vegas and they shot a lot of Star Trek movies there. Lot of red rocks and valleys
For shows and other bargains always check out "Travelzoo.com" , then go to Vegas and check out the deals. Right now two Palms buffet dinners for almost half price, half price bus tour to Hoover Dam-lunch buffet included, etc.-save some bucks.
One trip I drove to the Pet Cemetery not far from Suncoast casino and found it rather interesting. Large monuments for pets, pet toys thrown around on the lawn and there is a lifesize elephant buried there-also service dogs and private masuleums to pets.
Downtown is worth the trip. Lot of art work at Smith Centre and of course a trip to the "Pawn Star" pawn shop and see gramps, Rick and son.
Always lots to do, see, as a break from play.
A lot of people like the Mob Museum; if you're headed downtown, its worth a trip. Haven't been myself, but have heard good things; Springs Preserve is also worth a look/see.
I have always wanted to see the Neon Museum Boneyard, but it seems to be a bit tricky to get there on an available day/time and reservations must be made in advance.
I just read that the ShoeZeum is opening at Neonopolis in Downtown Las Vegas on September 1, 2012 next to the Heart Attack Grill and will feature more than 2,500 pairs of shoes. It will have the world's largest collection of Nike shoes. (I think I will pass on this one...)
Anyone make it to the Las Vegas Pinball Hall of Fame? It sounds like a great way to spend some time and play old pinball machines from the 50's to the 90's! It's free to get in and you can actually play all of the hundreds of pinball machines in the 10,000 sq ft space for only 25c or 50c!
EVIL Dead the musical look hands down AMAZING!!! Who wants to take me to it on a date?

I would see this, but the first show isn't until 10 p.m. and this ol' fogey is snoozin' by that time!
