Was the first to play at harrahs. Were set up at five cent denom. Min bet $1-$5. Fun game. Live the random stuff. Bonus came up frequently. Got mystical spins 3 times. Carpet ride twice and genie fight 2. Poor payoff in all. Walked losing $100. Will try again soon. Don't like nickels though. Louise

Played this one at Bill's on the Vegas strip. The chair movement was cool, but if you experience movement problems or vertigo, set the chair not to move. I hit a couple of bonuses and they were ok. Both hubby and I played about a 1/2 hour on this, there was no waiting and when we walked through another time no one was playing and at Red Rock no one was playing them either. This is another on the bottom of our play list. Fun but not worth the time with the low payouts.

Fun but not worth the time with the low payouts.

Seems to be the trend now among all gaming companies. "Let's distract them with fun/busy games and hopefully they won't notice the low payouts!" Gambling is about taking risks for potentially high rewards, but when the rewards aren't that high anymore, is gambling even worth the risk? If you don't mind paying large amounts of money to just be entertained, then that's a different story, but if you're playing to win, then most of us are out of luck with the low paybacks.

I played IGT's Elvis, and the payouts were pretty low. Played Bally T's Grease: never mind the payout, you'll be lucky if you even hit a bonus! With Michael Jackson rolling out, you can fully expect the same type of experience and low paybacks on these games. With so many stakeholders in any of the newer games, all vying for a slice of the cash pie (i.e. the slot manufacturer, the casino, the copyright holders for all featured audio and visuals, and the licensing fees that go with that), you can fully expect terrible payouts.

Awesome game, had several excellent hits on the genie bonus $100 - $200 on $1 bet, wife had several excellent hit's on the flying bonus, mystical spins was the worse one. Even was able to thank several WMS employees in person. Average length of play was around 30 Tier credits per $20 for us.

Hi xenix:

re: "Let's distract them with fun/busy games and hopefully they won't notice the low payouts!"

This is a myth. It's been repeated by so many people, it seems to have become truth. Pretty games do not necessarly pay less than butt-ugly games. Slot machines pay according to what the casino set them at. You can tell what the available payback range is by reading a publication such as "Strictly Slots". In general, licensed games pay back a little less ... but we are talking half-a-percent in some cases.

Depending on the way the game is leased, the casino does not pay anything up front for the game. They split the revenue with the manufacturer, or they could pay a set rate. A game like this will attracted players to a casino.

re: but when the rewards aren't that high anymore, is gambling even worth the risk?

If payouts to players are down, it is due to players flocking to 1-cent machines, where the payback is known to be the poorest (again, see Strictly Slots Magazine).

re: You are paying to be entertained

The odds are against the player. Over the long term, players are going to lose. Let's hope the experience has been entertaining. That said, players do not have to pay any extra money to be entertained with moving seats, 3-D graphics or multiple bonus rounds. It's a myth.

Played it at Harrah's AC last night. As PP said, it is set up as a nickel machine. Played $1-$3 per spin.

I was excited to play because of what I've read. What a horrible let-down. Yes, the chair vibrates and it's noisy- big deal! First- it's near impossible to get into the middle seats unless you are Twiggy. The paytable is awful- I mean really awful. The random mystery events- useless. I mean 2 times Zero is still zero. My favorite- three wild reels and I win ZERO. Give me Glinda & the WOZ Ruby Slippers with three wild reels and I will show you a handpay usually on the nickel machine, or it is usually a really, really good win.

The bonus I only got once. I got the Mystical Spins (10 free spins at 2 times pay). Yippee, I won 300 nickles on a $2 bet. I don't want to hear that it is seven times my bet. It is a horrible payout for a nickle machine. The people playing around me- same thing. One lady got a bonus win of 170 nickles on a $1 bet. It's not easy to trigger the darn thing- it should at least pay better. The regular line payouts are god awful too.

This machine will not be getting me again. The bells and whistles are not what I play for. I want to win, or at least have a chance at it. The WMS games are all pretty now, but I find I am playing them less and less and gravitating more towards the Aristocrat games. They are less cute, but pay better.

Hi jusstice:

Sorry you had a bad time on Aladdin ... and it was just a matter of time before someone posted a negative review. Since it is a slot machine, some players are going to have good luck, others will have bad luck. It does not pay any less to the player, than a game like Ruby Slippers ... it just has a different math model.

I never noticed some of the issues you are describing with the chair. Perhaps it was malfunctioning? Those chairs must take a beating.

Thanks for posting your experience. It reminds us that even the best designed games can be unlucky some days ... that is the nature of slot machines!

I agree with Shamus..Some machines will pay back more than others, "over time" because of the random number generator,(RNG), can be different in each machine. I encourage bloggers here to get a copy the Slots Players Magazine and look at the paybacks on the new machines featured each month and the paybacks of the different casinos around the country for the previous months by denomination. The new featured machines list the range of payback a casino manager can order for that particular machine. Example is a machine can be ordered with a RNG chip that has a payback of say 88 to 92%. That is a big range statistically. A few percentages can make a big difference depending on the amount of bets per line. To average 88% a machine could be paying back 44% to 132% "ON AVERAGE". Of course it could be higher or lower. A 92% machine could pay back 46% to 142% "ON AVERAGE". Has anyone, I sure you have, noticed that some machines seem to hit more often than other, even the same kind of slot game. It is all in the math model that Shamus has talked about. Of course it also has to do with the luck of being on the machine when the RNG is giving you a 142% payback. However I will take every advantage I can get to help with that LUCK and find the higher RNG payback whenever possible. Look, listen and be observant in the casino and you may just put a percentage of two more LUCK on you side.
